Standard:2 Analyze influences HBO: Prevent/stop hazing,fighting,hate crimes
The story of Troy Davis is a story that really effected me. Troy Davis was wrongfully convicted and executed in Savanna Georgia for a murder in which he pleaded innocent. The trial continued for a little more than twenty years. Seven of the nine witnesses recanted their testimonies and the man the man Troy Davis accused of murdering the victim confessed years later. There was also no murder weapon. With new evidence presented the supreme court still denied clemency and executed him. Through this entire trial i find it amazing that Troy Davis remained humble and positive. Davis forgave and encouraged people to fight against the acts of racism. Davis's last words were words of forgiveness for those who wrongly took his life. Davis also asked that God have mercy on their souls as well as bless them.
Davis like me was a religious person. Davis's religious rituals enabled him to remain faithful hopeful and strong during a horrific and difficult time of his life. Davis has influenced many of people around the world to stop or prevent fighting and hate crimes. I really respect him because though he experienced so much hate and opposition, he still remained optimistic and kept love in his heart
